Moondog on :
Ten bands huh? Well with the restrictions of "being possible" I have to add something first. I have a couple "Ones that got away"
1. John Lee Hooker...I only ever had one chance to shoot him but was working with another band at the time and we had a gig I could not get out of. I regret it to this day.
2. Ray Charles...It seeemed that whenever I would move (and i've done that a lot), he would have come and gone from wherever I was at that time or at that juncture in my life I had no access to shoot.
Now my top ten. I have had the good fortune to shoot pretty much anyone I wanted to in the last 8-10 years and before that, all the way back to 1981 I shot who I wanted without permission before the big crackdown on cameras. It used to be if you managed to get the camera in the venue you were pretty good to go.
1. The Rolling Sto...Oh, wait a minute, I was one of the three photogs allowed to shoot that Zilker show wasn't I? (Sorry Jeff, couldn't resist:)
This list in no way encompasses my favorite music or performers. It's just people I'd like to document in my own fashion.
1. Led Zepplin - I shot Robert Plant back in 1984 on the Principle of Moments tour but never Zepplin. I would go anywhere anytime on my own dime for this.
2. Pink Floyd - See above comment and the same as Jeff I would need a moslty complete band.
3. U2 - Not a fan but they are iconic and extremely talented. On my own dime they'd have to be somewhere in Texas though.
4. Paul McCartney - Had a chance to shoot him last tour but my boss forgot to submit my name. I'd go anywhere in Texas.
5. Prince - Again, not a fan in the sense I don't have any of his music in my posession but he is an amazing guitar player and legendary. I'd travel anywhere in the US if I had good access.
6. Tina Turner - I throw legendary out again but that's really what this list is isn't it? I hear she's touring this year and I would bet the farm this is the last one so I'll go anywhere in the US to catch her.
7. Stevie Wonder - Need I say more?
8. AC/DC - I shot them in the mid 1980's with no official access and would love another crack at them with all my fancy gear this time.
9. Madonna - A part of music history I would like to capture.
10. Aerosmith - This one has a twist. I have shot them 5 times and it is always a joy. They still rock the house and truly have so much fun on stage. I had the honor to shoot a meet & greet with Joe & Steven last year and gave Steven a book of Aerosmith photos which he took and went through every single one with me and asked questions about the photos. He asked for my card after so my last pick has to be Aerosmith tour photog even if for a portion of the tour.
