Before heading off to Europe on tour, Rock Legend Alice Cooper checks in with Jeff Barringer on our first club kingsnake podcast interview to talk about snakes (natch!), rock & roll, and Britney Spears. Take a listen on our Podcast Interviews Page or download the MP3 and take it with you.
Kinda wondered why the interviewer didn't ask about Alice "throwing" a snake at wrestling match opponent's manager (as documented in Wikipedia).
I really doubt that Alice hismself ever performed cruelly towards animals, but given the misconstruences (see also under A.C and chickens), it would have been helpful to hear from him about how one throws a snake gently? Or something is missing from that Wiki description!
Two reasons, one I was limited in the number of questions I could ask simply in the amount of time given, he was in a limo on the way to the airport, and 4/5ths of my questions remained unasked, two, I was unaware of the reference not being a fan of wrestling. Perhaps I missed the reference when scanning his wiki-bio, perhaps the reference did not exist at the time the interview took place. Wikipedia being wikipedia, it may not be there when this reply is read.
Now that Jake "The Snake" Roberts has been convicted(in absentia) in the U.K. for animal cruelty regarding the death of one of his snakes, perhaps Alice's attitudes towards the wrestler have cooled, as have most knowledgable reptile owners. I know that Alice and his crew have taken good care of the animals in the their stead, and barring a not-so-recent feeding accident with the snake, the animals have been returned to their owners in much the same condition as when borrowed.
I have the whole match on video and Alice was there, BUT did not take part of the snake throwing incident. He was holding the snake for JAKE, he then handed the snake to roberts and he then proceeds to "scare his opponent" with it and then the ass throws the snake.
