The Underdog (Peterborough, Ontario)
Deep in the belly of the Legendary Red Dog is its ugly little brother. This little brother, with its stained drop ceiling, tiny spongy stage and surly bartender, is home to some of the best indie, alt and metal shows one can find.
This spring evening The Underdog was home to a bunch of cool bands that each had a unique sound. Lit by nothing more than a wall sconce and the last remaining halogen bulb in some track lighting the bands did what they do best.
Palmeadow is a local Ptbo band (that's what the promoter Brian told me anyways) and their sound check was just about as fun as their set. I mean that in a good way! This is indie punk with gnarly guitars, some clean guitar, and it had a fresh off the cuff feel. I'll have to see these guys again.

The Creeping Nobodies are just friggin' cool. Based out of Toronto, they play experimental alt-rock that makes one think of the Sonic Youth, and Pere Ubu. Have you seen them? No? Well, what are you waiting for?

Cities in Dust is heavy garage punk with lots of rockstar attitude from Zach and Simon. Heavy guitar, raging vocals and a live show that makes you take notice and want to just fuckin' rock. Sweet!
Sail Boats are White, are definitely something to see. Frenetic short songs backed by a drum machine. Experimental electronica with a punk attitude and execution, and electric guitars. This band scares the hell out of me, and I like that.
Thanks to Brian from Fatliger Productions and Robbie from Hot Rod touring for having club.kingsnake to the show.
