MASTODON JOINS FORCES WITH METALOCALYPSE’S DETHKLOK FOR CO-HEADLINE TOUR THIS FALL
34-CITY TOUR ALONGSIDE CONVERGE AND HIGH ON FIRE
PERFORMANCE ON LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON CONFIRMED
“DIVINATIONS” TO APPEAR ON EA SPORTS MADDEN 2010 SOUNDTRACK
“OBLIVION” WINS “BEST VIDEO” AT THE KERRANG! MAGAZINE AWARDS TODAY
Burbank, CA – Perhaps the most anticipated and eclectic heavy rock tour of the year has been confirmed and will feature Atlanta’s hard rock icons MASTODON to co-headline with the life size version of DETHKLOK, the animated band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse along with friends CONVERGE and HIGH ON FIRE. The 36-city tour will begin Oct 2, and scorch the nation coast-to-coast. Tour dates are listed below. Ticket pre-sale begins Tuesday Aug 4, at 10:00AM. General public ticket sales begin Friday, Aug 7, at 10:AM. For more info about the tour including prices ranges and how to order, go to: http://www.adultswimpresents.com/.
THIS NEWS JUST IN: MASTODON has won “Best Video” Award at the annual Kerrang! Magazine Awards Show in London today, Mon Aug 3. If you’ve yet to see the mind-melting videos from CRACK THE SKYE, “Divinations,” and “Oblivion,” both by famed director Roboshobo, what are you waiting for? Go directly to: http://www.cracktheskye.com/.
Tour co-headliners, Nathan Explosion, William Murderface, Skwisgaar Swigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles – better known as DETHKLOK – will take to the road in support of the band’s latest CD release from Williams Street Records, Dethklok: The Dethalbum II, which will be released as both a standard and deluxe edition on Sep 29, from Williams Street Records. Bringing the animated band to life on stage each night will be series co-creator and composer Brendon Small along with an all-star band including the legendary Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. These real life-musicians will perform live while dark-lit and playing underneath a giant projection screen featuring all-new animation and music videos from Dethklok to create a truly unique concert experience.
Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, CONVERGE will release their anticipated new album "Axe To Fall" on Epitaph on Oct 20. The release is the follow-up to their highly acclaimed "No Heroes" album, released on Epitaph in 2006. Though CONVERGE has remained tight-lipped about all aspects of "Axe To Fall", the buzz surrounding the upcoming release already has the rumblings of potential aggressive album of the year.
Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, HIGH ON FIRE creates “bad-ass” modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness,” HIGH ON FIRE has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing.
Just confirmed: MASTODON will perform live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Thur, Oct 29. Tune in 12:35am and 11:35pm CT on NBC stations.
The mighty MASTODON is currently touring Europe and the UK with Metallica in support of their groundbreaking new album, CRACK THE SKYE, one of the most critically-praised releases of this year or any other:
“Mastodon are the greatest metal band of their generation – no one else comes close.” -- Rolling Stone
“Zeppelin-esque grandeur. Mastodon’s music now feels as powerfully elemental as its subject matter.” – Spin
“Bask in ‘Crack the Skye’s’ superb sonic qualities. Give ‘em half a chance and they’ll take you someplace pretty cosmic.” – Entertainment Weekly
Critical accolades aside, MASTODON fans have responded with manic enthusiasm snapping up every available copy of various limited edition artifacts including the Deluxe Tunnel Book CD+DVD package, both color and double-disc 180 gm gatefold vinyl pressings, plus a pair of CD single/T-shirt bundles; all long gone. As previously mentioned, act fast and you just might still find a pair of the “Blood Mountain” or “Blade Catcher” design Mastodon Vans shoes available online and in Vans shops now. Newer still are the limited edition Yeti Vs. Saber Hurley Board Shorts available now through http://www.mastodonrocks.com/
Gamers will be pleased to know that MASTODON'S "Divinations," will be included in EA’s MADDEN 2010 soundtrack. Look for the game to hit stores on Aug 14, available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii platforms. For more info go to: http://www.ea.com/music/the-official-madden-nfl-10-soundtrack.
