SXSW's genre descriptions aside, Kinksi started as a drone band in Seattle and over the years have emerged with a much more complex sound, combining heavy crashing guitars and percussion into a psychedelic rock soufflé. This is one of those sink back into your comfy chair, put the headphones on and listen to the ride experiences.

Spending time touring in the U.S., Japan, and Europe with bands like Mission of Burma, Oneida, Comets on Fire, and Acid Mothers Temple, their last release was in 2005 on the Sub Pop label, the label responsible of breaking Nirvana and the Seattle grunge scene. Making a special trip to Austin just for SXSW I had a chance to speak with Chris Martin about their upcoming gig, touring, and the Seattle music scene.
